Where are the blog postings?

Well that question can be answered very easily. Right now life got a bit hectic and I will be taking a bit of a hiatus. I do not know how long it will take however, it is much needed. I am sorry for all of those who are affected by this. I made a lot of friends and wish the best to all of them.

World War Three, The Spammer’s War

In recent news, email users beware! because spammers, out to destroy your computer, started sending out strange emails about the invasion of Iran and the start of World War III. Larking in this email are links with Mal-ware and Trojan viruses attached to them.

Strangely enough, these emails have become a big problem, especially for those who have loved ones in the service. There is no click hesitancy when unsuspecting computer users read the headlines of some of their emails which state ‘Third World War has begun.’ This is how the spammer catch and leech onto their prey.

Usually the emails contain several sentences about the United States Army invading Iran and starting World War III with the dropping of a nuclear bomb. Here are some of the direct quotes from the email:

Just now US Army’s Delta Force and IS Air Force have invaded Iran.

Approximately 20,000 Us solders crossed the border into Iran and broke down the Iran[ian] Army resistance.

The video made by Us soldier was made [this] morning. click on the video to see the first minutes of the beginning of World War III. god save us.

Once unsuspecting people click the video, several different viruses are downloaded into the person’s computer unit. These viruses include the Troj/Tibs-UO Trojan and Mal/ObfJS-AY viruses.

The major problem with this email is that people usually take advantage of the Internet’s capabilities of broadcasting breaking news. Of course people that are directly affected by this will click the link or the video. I would say that the best way to fight this would be to keep your computer up to date with its virus protection and don’t click on links that are in emails (suspicious). Also, if you want breaking news, check with www.msnbc.com or www.cnn.com before trusting emails.

Facebook, Is that a him or a her?

Facebook, one of the leading social-networking sites on the site, is fed up with trying to create new words for their users. Not the average user, but users that haven’t picked which gender they are yet. I know the question you might be asking yourself, “How do you not know your gender?” Well this question falls the category for newly gendered people or people that question there own gender (transsexuals).Facebook Logo

In recent weeks, the decision to make gender declaration mandatory has been passed and within weeks, Facebook users will have to declare which gender they are (or think they are). The problem with genderless users are that Facebook announces what people do when they do it. “Jeff has blanked. He is very happy.” When somebody is genderless on Facebook, they have to use they instead of he or she. The problem doesn’t seem very apparent now, but when used in a different sentence, the problem is obvious. “Jeff hates himself.” In the English language, there is no non-gendered word for himself or herself. So far, Facebook has been using themself. Themself is not a word, hence the problem.

My question is, “Does this really have relevance?” I mean shouldn’t we just accept people that do not wish to disclose there gender. I do not feel hurt by Facebook using “themself” and neither should most people.

Sound off and let your voice be heard.

WALL•E Review, Put on Your Sunday Clothes

Wow, just wow. I just got back from a screening of the new Disney/Pixar Movie WALL•E and once again Pixar has amazed me beyond belief. For those who haven’t seen this movie yet, I’ll try to keep this post void of spoilers.

The Basic Plot

WALL•E sets the stage by showing an Earth overrun by consumerism and an Earth incapable of maintaining life as we know it. Those humans that remain in existence construct an ingenious plan to leave the planet Earth and wait for their WALL•E robots to remove all the pollution which is hindering life growth. Over the following 700 years, a single WALL•E remains in operation and continues to fulfill its robotic duties. However, unlike the traditionally robot we know, this interesting little fellow seems to have adapted humanistic characteristics which he learned from watching a VHS version of Hello Dolly. This is when the true story unfolds.

Now please don’t just think this is a child’s movie because it truly isn’t. Any age child, adult, old-folk can enjoy this movie. Standing back and realizing the true work of art this film is, makes it even more of an excellent film, specially since much of the movie is silent (of voice).

Reaction

One instance that surprised me was the fact that the creators used Broadway music in this movie (and they used it very well). Some musical minded people might have noticed what was WALL•E was watching and humming during the movie. Of course, he was watching Hello Dolly and was humming the song Put on You Sunday Clothes (for those who are wondering, the love song is It Only Takes A Moment). Jerry Herman himself explains his reaction very well. stating, “It really blew me away. You’re talking to someone still in a haze. I couldn’t believe how beautifully the songs expressed the entire intent of the film.” Later he explained, ” [I was] not aware of how the songs were going to be used”; [I] was thinking something along the lines of background music.” Oddly enough the pieces that were used fit fantastically into the movie’s vibe.

Another topic this movie brings up is “Where are we headed?” In the current era we are in now, most people could not watch this movie without thinking, “This might just be where we are headed.” Bringing this revelation to our minds could even have the power to change how we think and how we treat our planet and life on our planet.

Hopefully everybody checks out WALL•E in theaters before its DVD release on November 4th 2008. Even thought, I’m sure that I’ll also be buying the DVD (and I’m sure I’m not alone).
